Don’t Be a Digital Gonad

If you’re new to the idea of traveling and working online, then you may not have heard the term ‘Digital Gonad’.

If you’re a seasoned pro at this game, then you will almost certainly have come across it.

If you haven’t, then let me both enlighten you and warn you at the same time.

Don’t worry, you’ll thank me later.

The phrase ‘digital gonad’ is a throwaway term used light heartedly to describe a new online worker who basically has no clue what they’re doing.

They think they do, and that’s the sad thing.

Chiang Mai draws its fair share and they often sit in coffee shops all day with all the gear and no idea.

Fancy laptops, cameras and the latest in fashion rucksacks.

Digital nomading their way through their next hot latte.

They’ve spent their money on gear rather than acquiring knowledge.

They fail to make a realistic plan and often move around aimlessly.

I wish them luck in many ways, but usually they are writing notes in a document and watching YouTube videos.

Starting out as a digital nomad isn’t hard, but it does take work, and just as importantly, a focused effort.

Don’t focus on anything that isn’t moving you towards that goal.

I feel blessed to be able to work online and help others follow in the footsteps many people have trodden for us.

You can easily be one of them, if you follow proven methods.
